My d-i-l made a one day trip to Melbourne and with my Melbourne based son spent Friday removing valuables and papers from his house. He had been dead for weeks, so the conditions in the house can be imagined. It now seems clear that it was suicide.

My brother met the same fate about 6 years ago. Not exactly the same situation but I know what you are going through. He was living wth a group of mates at the time.
