Sucky these Toyotas!
The only saving grace is they're free!
I'm going to do a write up with pics of my D2 transmission hose upgrade soon...
The VNT + Towing the boat places a lot of stress on the transmission!
I've been in and around the central qld mining area for a few weeks and smirked at the number of yotas coming into town(s) on the back of flatbeds.
So, what happens to me this arvo? Driving back from Blackwater I notice what appears to be smoke behind me. Then whoopee, no drive.....pull over...oil everywhere on the lhs from the engine bay back.....So, guess who got a ride on the back of a flatbed....."grumble"......not happy Jan as all the yotas stream past me. anyway , looks like the transmission cooling line popped off, hopefully no harm done, find out tomorrow full details. But in every situation something comes to light and when the towie pulled the tiedown chains against the underside of the bullbar it lifted.....reattached the chains in another location and checked the bullbar....a good heave up and push down and it was definitely coming loose in its mountings. So a local mechanic in Emerald has it....he likes Land Rovers and has a Rangey Sport, and seems a wise old soul......I think grumble is in good hands tomorrow.
And my works drive is .......yota ...lowlux...4wd....d4d......so far so good. Tomorrow I drive it about 300ks and see how I feel tomorrow night.
Be listening again for the next exciting episode of "dennis hits the coal mines"

Btw, why was he chaining to the barwork!?
They are supposed to chain/strap from axles or tyres.
Otherwise movement of the vehicle on its suspension does damage as it pulls tight then loose on the chains.
From the description of the mechanic, you have it booked in ith Tim at IUT? he isnt the only landrover lover there..... another mechanic has a RRC
yes, they all came out and lamented an oily Land Rover.....looks like they care.....even the young bloke.....
it makes a change from thier normal fare of patrols and 'cruisers.....
not in a white disco with ladders on the roof are you?
nope its gold . got aulro stickers either side rear window and white "grumble" sticker in lower lh rear window. It'll be around the area for some time.
