Is it a case that landy replacement parts are being made by dodgy Asian manufacturers?
With the Eurozone, genuine parts for landrover can come from Turkey, Czechoslavia( Spelling) Germany, France, anywhere.
Aftermarket parts can come from any of those OEM makers or they can come from other parts.
You can't always knock stuff that comes from China all the time because they are the largest manufacturer of electronic components used by very large corporations TV, Radio etc..
Obviously, I wouldn't fit a chinese tie rod or ball joint to any of my vehicles. Chinese knock off are just that a copy without the durability.
Unfortunately is again the case, you get what you pay for. As most people don't want to pay anything much there is a market created for them with inferior products.
I refuse to buy and sell anything from India.
I will not sell or buy parts made in China either.

ABC TV tonight showed a graph produced by AMP showing bank profit margins are at a 12 year high. Yet they want to whack up their rates.
Is it any wonder small businesses are struggling when the banks are slugging them to inflate the profits for bank shareholders.

The situation is reversed for me now, a month ago We had a mortgage and debt, and needed rates down, now we don't after a legal injury settlement,we are debt free but must rely on income from the claim,
we need interest rates to go sky high so we have a regular income.

Usually I buy 4BD1(T) parts from the local ISUZU dealer, most of which need to come from "over east" and I get charged at least $20 per airbag for...

However, one small part I needed they couldn't supply - even from "over east". I finally tracked one down at "Goldfields Truckpower" in Kalgoorlie. I ordered the part over the phone, gave them my CC number. It arrived in an express post bag the next day, but no invoice. I called them, and they said, "it was such a small part, it wasn't worth doing the paperwork to charge you".

p.s. - if anyone who lived in Kal is able to drop a 6 pack in to Goldfields Truckpower, PM me your bank details and how much I owe you for it.
Brett and Garry? I think their names are,top blokes and got alot of money from me because of it. Pat

Huge. Avoid Britpart. I go Genuine where I can... I prefer to get grease hands as little as possible.. so I always go for the one that will last the longest.

re Brit part, did you know they are only a distributor? they source their supplies from all over.
They have crap, but they also have OEM parts.
You can get eg. corteco seals in a britpart bag, and lots of other parts. As long as it has OEM on the label or G for genuine So it's not 100% right that britpart is crap.

Interesting observation. I'm a veterinarian and one of our most used non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (Rimadyl) and some antibiotics are now manufactured in India. Guess which company? Pfizer - one of the worlds biggest drug companies. Another interesting fact is that Rimadyl is currently unavailable because of manufactuirng and supply problems.... Thankfully we have alternate Australian made product!

Ok so I'll admit to this week having pruchased some stuff from Brit Parts - more fool me.......

So which non genuine LR parts manufacturers would you advise to use and which UK or US online sellers would you recommend?

I was looking to buy a globe for my rear pro teli, they have the globes for sale on eBay for between 95 and 120 dollars imported from hong kong. I didn't really want to buy from overseas so I shopped around hoping to buy one locally. I tracked one down just around the corner from me and was pretty happy to find one so close, I called them to ask price and they wanted 500 frigging dollars!! Inc gst. I would have been happy to pay uptoo 150 dollars purely for the convenience of getting same day but at that price forget it.
