    Lightbulb Body swap or engine swap?

    Hello,
    I have a question about a 2x D1 that i have are the same colour;
    • D1 mint body and interior but stuffed motor
    • D1, 300tdi great motor, needs a paint, new dash, new carpets etc

    •Both are unreg at the moment

    MY QUESTION;
    Do I put the 300tdi motor, gearbox, fuel system in the mint body OR do I unbolt all the hang panels, interior and swap them over to the 300tdi??

    Another question is would I need an engineers cert to turn a V8 to a Tdi in vic?
    My dilemma;
    If I did the panel swap I wouldn't need to get an engineers cert etc, both are approx the same amount of time yet the panel, interior swap I can do myself.

    Swap guards/doors and rear panels, easy job, rear panels a bit of a pain but not as hard as swapping a body, Regards Frank.

    As Vern says swop the body. Fairly straightforward if you can lift the body high enough. When I did my body swop in the UK we removed the wheels and rolled the chassis out on the discs.

    Doors are just a "C" clip top and bottom hinges (no bolts to undo), front guards, phillip head screws along the top and a few 10mm bolts on the A pillar, rear panels some 10mm blts inside, a few screws outside, a couple of pop rivets and a scraper to break the mastic seal on the inside, and you still have matching body and chassis numbers, Regards Frank.
