I'd be happy for my Defender to sound like that.
    Ah the enthusiasm of youth.
    Yeah for about 10 minutes.
BUT not after a night on the hops.

They're for the Kiwi V8's mate, (Albins are supplying the Aussie V8's) but yes, it would save on freight

This is a straight racing box meant for Bowlers etc for Paris Dakar. It would be unbearable to use to drive normally on a public road.

Think about what you hear when you watch the supercars.

    Can we say HOOOOOOOWL !

Although I love the shift of a 'dog box, the speed and feel is lovely, I think I'd prefer an H pattern 'box in the Deefer so I could skip gears when I needed to.

Does Hollinger feature anymore in supplying racing transmissions? i used to see their gears and shafts at the local heat treatment works when I was getting my portal stuff treated.

    Bill.
I'm well and truly out of it these days Bill but all the current V8's use a Holinger box and he used to supply BMW Motorsport worldwide, but I suppose contracts can change at any time.

From that email you sent me

New Zealand’s touring car racing championship undergoes something of a revolution in 2012 with the introduction of the new V8 Supertourer formula. Alongside a single control chassis and engine, Quaife Engineering is supplying the control gearbox – our latest heavy duty rear wheel drive sequential unit – the QBE69G, which has to withstand the 700 bhp these cars transmit.
After extensive testing throughout 2011, the full grid of cars is now being built ready for the first V8 Supertourer race in February 2012. Hence why Quaife is delighted to have just shipped twenty QBE69G gearboxes to Australia where the cars are being prepared by Paul Ceprnich’s team at Pace Innovations.
