Of course not to be outdone the EU government has spent a few years investigating water. As a result of this research they have now determined that water is not connected to a persons hydration levels. !

Unfortunately this is not a joke. It started with some scientists attempting to prove the EU wrong on this. Government is always right so they have legislated to say they are right.

Recall something of this... not quite what it seems.

Background was some boutique water sellers who wanted to claim wonderful things for their product, - like a cure for gout, plague, impotence, baldness and stupidity...plus 're-hydrating' the de-hydrated.

The releveant EU agencies were more concerned with the 'Truth in Advertising' angle, hence the wasting of squillions of Euros to show what any 2nd year med student could have proved...that water can indeed re-hydrate...as long as something else is not sending it straight out again... Like dysentery.

But as we used to say in the newspapers.... "NEVER let the facts get in the way of a Good Story !"

Actually a rehydration solution for the dehydrated NEEDS to contain some salts as well as water. So in that sense the EU is correct.

The sad thing about this recent congressional decision is that it is not a decision that the citizens, nutritional organisations or health professionals wanted, but is what the frozen food companies wanted backed by their millions of dollars of political donations. After all, companies are people too, at least they are according to the US Supreme Court.

Sleepy, I'm glad you're O.K. after your learning from a previous US Vice president, others weren't so lucky getting a shotgun blast in the face.

Like most of the thousands of new regs and dictats handed down from the unelected EU bureaucraps, it's total crap.
Why didn't they just stop the outrageous claims of the bottled water companies, who probably get the product out the tap in the laundry anyway?
They're also forcing honey producers to spend big money on altering labels to advise consumers that "honey contains pollen"!!!!
Last I heard honey was a natural product made from pollen collected by bees but that has obviously been missed by the scientists who came up with what their masters wanted.
Sounds a bit like their tame scientists and their global warming all caused by nasty humans.
All good for a laugh though just like their straight banana legistlation, pity it all costs the taxpayer though. But hey, these stupid idiots need jobs so someone has to employ them.

Like the EU bureaucrats who banned a spread made by a manufacturer in Wales on the grounds that the label on the bottle didn't comply with EU labelling laws.

The spread has a traditional label written Welsh, it isn't sold outside Wales but to comply with the EU, the label had to have at least 3 EU official languages of which Welsh is not included, so this Welsh only product would have to have a label written in 4 languages 3 of which probably wouldn't buy the product anyway!
