Home Brew - Any Master Brewers Out There?

I did some home brewing and beer appreciation with my mates back in my university days..... Decided to get back into making my own beer today. See attached picture of my first brew in 10 years.

Any tips from the Master brewers out there?

I have been drinking Tooheys Old lately. Which home brew tins would you recommend I try?

Interested in making Lemonade and Ginger Beer. Are these hard to make from scratch?

I posted on a prior post on home brew a while back. Some tips were posted by me and others that are worthy of note. Happy to visit one day to talk you through it on the condition that we hit a local track.

As for ginger beer I made a mean batch. Took a little more work than the tin and sugar. Take a few large fresh ginger roots. cut up roughly and put into a pot of water, about 2 ltr. Boil for about 30 minute to extract the flavours. let it cool for 30 min or so. Add the liquid and ginger solids to a ginger beer brew kit. Some use brown sugar, some use malt, some use white sugar. Experiment until you find what you like. Using malt will give you a tart ginger beer that is zingy on the palate, light on the residual sugar and clean on the back palate. Great on a hot day.

Like i stated in the prior post, 6 months in the bottle will return you a mature beer/ginger beer worthy of pulling out for friends.

another tip spend the money on a top quality brew, the results will repay you in multiples over a supermarket kit.

enjoy brewing, there will be many misses before you nail it.

    cheers MLD
