Dobbo, i looked at the amarok option, they look good, same as the ranger and would love the 5cyl version, but in the end i just couldnt see either taking the beating a defender will take or keeping up with a defender off road... i was thinking mainly from the family tourer and could have seen me taking either of the 2 to cape york when the time comes, then there was the IFS factor which is something that really turned me off in the prado...
Theres something about having solid axles and coil springs all round, real 4wd selection(no push button crap) and decent gearing that kept me on track with buying my 130.... Go the 130 to do away with the ABS/TC crap and build it into the truck you want like i am doing.
3.2 Duratorq 5 cyl is apparently an enlarged puma donk, with the extra cylinder and been around in UK Transits for a while. They reckon it goes pretty hard.

which vehicle is Duratorq 3.2 offered in ?

He had an ARB bar fitted as Mazda wanted silly money.
The only downside so far has been the ride from the rear leaves. Towed my boat well. The gearboxes were occasionally problematic in earlier models, however so far so good (apparently the gearbox has been strengthened).
I asked a guy at work about these as I was impressed on a test drive and he had been driving a work one for a few months allready. He just smiled, apparently this particular one had done not handled life to good, not as bad as a Puma in reliability but not far off.
a few months old,
the local VW dealers quote, either he's a ****ing idiot or thinks i'm a ****ing idiot. I take it from the syntax and gramatical errors in his email that either is a viable option.
I'll be calling him up in business hours and having a sex talk with him about $182 floor mats, electric "break" controllers and such. I'll be generous and give him a second chance.
