    Range Rover for sale on Gumtree

    Hi Guys ;

    Just recieved a reply back from an interested buyer who is offering more than what I'm asking for my vehicle Just wanted to know if anyone has come accross this , the interested buyer is asking for my paypal information and is going to organise a shipping company to pick it up from oz and send to england

    this is his reply

    hello,

    Thanks for the response,i will like to make offering of $xxxx AUD so that we can close the sales and have the transaction ...kindly get back to me with your Paypal Payment information so that i can go ahead with the payment which i will including PayPal surcharges since i am interested in the immediate purchase.I want the vehicle to be ship to London, where this is needed and i will be making use of a shipping company to have this picked up from you and have it delivered to me when i get back to England,i am presently on official duty in Ohio USA,.Further arrangements will be made with you in regards to the pick up once i have paid you.

    I don't have an active paypal account , I know that it is probably easy to set one up.however I'm rather adament not to provide my paypal information to someone who I don't even know is genuine about the purchase of my vehicle . let me know what your thoughts are ??

    Yep, he's going to be a genuine buyer alright!

    He wants to ship a RR to a country where they are less than half the price having paid shipping on top ($5k plus), plus the cost of conversions....

    It makes you wonder how people fall for these scammers.

    Um yes they would , there are hardly any RRC in the Uk and a Rust free Aussie one would collect a lot of money. Most of the uk ones have rusted away

    You're not actually seriously thinking it's an "interested buyer" are you?

    Oh by the way, I've just been told by 2 sources in 2 days I was successful in the US greencard lottery this year, in which I didn't enter. I'll happily give up my US immigration program citizenship, which also includes guaranteed job in your field, apartment in city of your choice and you can take as many wives, husbands, children, mistresses, dogs, cats and kangaroos as you wish. $879 per person/animal/transvestite is their going rate. Tell you what, $1000 a pop to me, I'll take the $121 profit per person as an AULRO only special offer. Remember kiddies, I only have 2 of these special offers up for grabs, so be quick. Western Union transfers only please!

    Granted, but you would have to be slightly mad to want to ship a 1993 RR to the other side of the world, never having seen it, and having had to remove half the off-road accessories as they are not legal to be fitted in the UK, for a total cost of 10K GBP when the same money will buy you a vehicle 10 years newer, with a higher level of equipment.

    (A quick browse of the Autotrader shows a large number of 2003-2004 L322 HSE or Vogues for that kind of money)

    Out of interest
    What bits would you have to remove for the uk

    After all they don't have anywhere as tough rules like ADR.

    EU rules are actually much tougher than ADRs. The bulbar would have to go, meaning the spotties would be out too. Wheels/tyres protrude too far.

    And that's before you start getting in to emissions regs!
