    Smashed D1

For those of you that dont visit the WA AULROians area.
Have a look how a 3 door stood up to a severe accident.
I believe the driver may have not been so lucky in a lesser vehicle.

Although quite caved in the passenger area structure looks to be mostly intact, the A/B/C pillars must be fairly strong.

Judging by the skidmarks left on the road,he didnt wash off much speed before hitting the pipeline. Its around 4 feet in diameter, full of water, just like hitting a block of concreate.

Actually the occupants are lucky - the D1s, particularly in non airbag form had a poor crash rating - even for the time when they were new.

I had an early 94 D1 without airbags when they were crash tested (I think in 95) - they were not well rated and in a decent frontal crash you could expect to loose your legs below the knee.
