    Quaife news

"Quaife Engineering’s other new transmission launch for Autosport International 2012 is a heavy duty six-speed sequential gearbox for Land Rover / Range Rover applications where strength and outright performance are top priorities.
Using the same design architecture as the proven QBE69G gearbox, careful design by Quaife has enabled the new transmission (which carries part number QBE86G) to incorporate the OEM Land Rover / Range Rover transfer box, diff locking mechanism and oil pump.
Detail technical features include 90mm shaft centres for strength, allied to an uprated reverse gear to withstand rigorous off-road use, in applications up to 750 bhp. Customers can also alter the position of the gearlever to give a left or right hand positional bias depending on user requirements. An optional Quaife ATB centre differential unit is also available for customers seeking the ultimate in reliable, problem free transmissions. Bearing in mind the motorsport credentials of the QBE86G, the unit is only available with straight cut gears."

I doubt the noise coming from the gearbox in a 750hp defender would be your biggest concern............
