The bad luck continues in Castlemaine :(

Just outside Castlemaine, and shredded a serpentine belt due to a power steering pump issue. The pulley on the pump can move forwards/backwards and there's fluid dripping.

I have a spare belt, but not sure if putting it on a suspect pump is wise.

    Just can't win lately

You can't drive it without the belt doing all the pulleys. If the power steering pump still turns you will have to risk the new belt to proceed to another repair place.

Given I replaced the serpentine belt a week ago, I wonder what caused the pump failure? Just bad luck? What generally causes it?

Jeez, sorry to hear mate - if you need a hand with anything, let me know - I'm only 45 minutes away - I'll PM you my number if you want.

Hope you get it sorted, I'm not sure what has caused the pump to fail, and I don't have any parts that will help, but I have plenty of tools, and I can swing a spanner...

Anybody know a supplier in Melbourne that might have a pump in stock? I'll try Rovercraft on Monday morning.

The Simpson is looking a bit unlikely, a bit difficult to get a tilt tray to come and get you.
