I'm astonished at the statement earlier in this thread that 'no had has ever died from smoking marijuana'. Validating this statement would require investigating the cause of every death that has ever occurred.
Might I also add that no-one has ever died from jumping off a tall building. Jumping off tall buildings appears to me to be a harmless, exhilarating thing to do. I am aware, however, that there is a strong statistical association between jumping from tall buildings and landing heavily on pavement a short time later. This tells me that regardless of how much fun jumping off buildings may appear to be, only a complete fool would get involved in it.
That is pretty much how I feel about marijuana.
Dan I am intrigued that you say cannabis is not toxic.
Sat in a room full of cannabis smoke with no ventilation I think you will succumb to the carbon monoxide given off by it burning therefore it's toxicity must be in its combustion of the plant ....as per cigarettes both are carbonised plant matter and are inhaled with potential lung implications, and I have heard some old bollocks in my time that cannabis smoking is jolly good for astmah I think probably not, in my experience as an astmah sufferer.

Like, cannabis smokers drive Toyotas, man, know where I'm comin' from? the truth is out there, man, like, yeah, man. Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
just got 2 point's to say
-alot of smoker's/user's now vaporize which eliminates the toxic part's of combustion (ie; the smoke)
-just had annual raids across our region, choppers low flying valley's followed up by heavily armed infantry making significant bust's while terrorizing alot of innocent people (families & children), often in pre dawn raids. The cost of mounting such excercises could be much better spent targeting dealers or other more harmful drug's - people will still be growing next season. Raiding hippies growing bush bud's is an easy way to show the media u'r doing something about the problem & also justifing the need for high cost resources. This just force's them inside to grow hydro, which in turn is stronger & less natural. Meanwhile there's carnage on the pacific hwy because we cann't afford to fix it or patrol it

Hey guys, I work in health and like alcohol, pot can seriously derail your life. the differnce being that alcohol tends to bring peoples lives down later in life. Cannabis use often stops kids from ever building one. There are strong scientific studies that suggest that heavy use can trigger schizophrenia in certain groups of people. I certainly see people time and time again that only get mentally unwell if they have been using cannabis. Yep, there are other drugs out there, some legal and some not and these considerations apply to all of them (including beer):
* can I comfortably go without for a few days?
* do I become enraged or non functional if I can't have it when I want it?
* Have I ever argued about it with someone I care about?
* Have I ever done something stupid to get it?
So theres a difference between use and "problem use". Personally, I would suggest that if you are using it so often you are looking at exotic ways of reducing its impact on your health you need to rethink how often you use it.
I have worked in heavy industry in a place that had a strong cannabis culture and have seen plenty of people with nasty injuries as a result - sadly not usually the smokers themselves. If you wouldn't do it drunk, don't do it stoned.
My take on the question what is my view on canabis.
Like any drug it changes your rational thought process therefore should never be used while working or in charge of any form of machinery. You are being paid to do a job not take drugs, I dont want you crashing into me while driving.
It has some good points and some bad points - like pretty much any drug used by mankind
because it is illegal criminals are making huge amounts of money selling it, and there is no standard on quality nor is there any taxes made on the sale of it
like any drug or food all things in moderation, excessive intake of anything is bad for you.
Mammals have been taking mind altering drugs since well forever. Point in case: while living in Howard Springs just out side of Darwin we had about 50 mango trees every year the mangoes would drop off as we couldn't eat them all, our horses would eat them after they had been on the ground for a few days and get rip roaring drunk. first time we saw it we thought they had been bitten by a snake. Every year the same thing would happen so the horses obviously knew what was going to happen. Aparently this phenomenon has been observed over a wide range of animals in many countries around the world, so it is not just humans that like to get off, as it were.
As the evidence shows making something illegal will not stop people from growing or using it
In the early 80's as a bouncer in Katherine NT the easiest crowd to control were the stoners; alcohol, speed and hammer made people very unpredictable. The worst of the lot were the ones who took a combination of some or all of the above and many other one not mentioned.
Personally I am not going to condone nor condemn anyone for the use of it.
Hi Guys,
anyone know how long or even days, it is till you can legally drive after a joint
cheers
Give it a go Ron, you might just lay off on the spelling nazi thing.
Having been an occasional user over 26 years i have seen some of the affects in some people as mentioned throughout this thread, i have seen people go nuts on it and others just fall asleep. We had a friend that had mental issues that weed would calm him down and allow him to act rationally but long term no doubt it would cause further issues.
I woyuld rather people use it than other manufactured drugs although lsd/acid was the best trip i ever had with no side affects, hydroponic weed IMHO is more dangerous than the organic stuff that was around in the 80's.
I dont fully condone it but i also think there are far worse drugs out there, i dont know anyone who has become addicted to it and i have mates that are more frequent users than i ever was.
Amsterdam has is right.
