    Mental Awareness Again

Guys I know this has been posted before and I know some of you have been through it and shared, but please take time to look out for loved ones and their mental state, especially our disenfranchised kids.
This is hard to talk about as typing this I am just about in tears but my niece tried to commit suicide last night, fortuanately she failed and my Mum and her twin sister found her in time. She is a beautiful kid and only 17, it is just beyond belief it has got to this. There are reasons and people to blaim but that is not for here. Also my brother is suffering severe depression and this has tipped him over the edge and he is now in a facilty for a bit (self admitted).
So please watch your loved ones.
This with being away from my family has caused me a bit of mild depression, but at least I have recognised it and am pushing through it and I know I will be OK. I just hope my niece and brother are.
It pains me to be so far away from them as they are in Adelaide.
Anyway, just take care it can happen anytime.

Good on you for putting it out there Craig. This is a subject that we seem to be becoming increasingly aware of. I'm hopeful for what the future will bring.

    Craig E,

I understand how hard it must be that your family is in Adelaide and your stuck in WA at this difficult time.

When you have the time, I would be jumping in your Landy and heading bush with a couple friends for a few days. Make sure you make time for doing what you enjoy doing, whatever that is.

Sad to hear Craig. I suffer from depression result of an accident and Christmas 2 years ago was really bad for me and I had suicidal thoughts going through my head. I was in a mess, I sort medical health and very strong medication
has given me a better quality of life. But it only takes some annoyance and the depression shows it head.
The unfortunate thing about depression is it effects those close to you, even if you don't deliberately do or say things.
I hope things work out for your family.

Very sorry to read that Craig. What a terrible thing for you and your family to have to deal with. I have two kids and can not even fathom what it would do to me if that was to happen with them. I hope your brother and niece pull through it all and can put it behind them and, of course make sure you take care of your self mate.
    Cheers,

    Sean

My wife and kids are in Mandurah WA, just 1300kms south of where I work in NW.. The rest of my family are in Adelaide / Murray Bridge. So was a bit tough, could only talk on the phone.
I will always make time to do stuff we enjoy with my kids.
