How to let new LR owners know about the AULRO

Whats the best way to educate new Landy owners about the virtues of this site.

Over the past few months or so I have had a large number of customers new to Land Rovers ( usually new D4 owners ) ringing to enquire about my dual battery systems and during the conversation, when I mention AULRO, there is a silence at the other end of the line.

I am surprised at the number of Landy owners who have never heard of AULRO when they ring me, particularly as I only operate as a internet seller, so you would think if the can find my web pages, why are they not coming across the AULRO site?

Many new Landy owners ( and some who have owned LRs for years ) are not aware of this site so are there any ideas on how to make them away?

I remember when we first started the GCLRO club, if we would see another Land Rover owner in a car park, we would try to have a chat to let them know there was now a Land Rover Specific club on the coast ( I still do it ).

Maybe we could have a campaign of putting business type cards under the windscreen wipes of any Land Rovers we see while out shopping or what ever ( Note, this is illegal in some places )

    But anyway, any other ideas?

I usually try and block their vision with this--
    a bit of reverse stalking
but other than giving away cards with the new vehicle-

Because most DIII/DIV owners are just buying a car and aren't nutters like the rest of us ?

If my memory serves me correctly (a dangerous assumption), I found the site because I was planning to upgrade from my Series III to a second hand Defender that I had seen in a local dealer's yard. I knew a lot less about Defenders than I did about Series Land Rovers, so I started searching to get some idea of what I should look for in a used Defender. This site was amongst the places that Google offered.

I had always maintained my own vehicles and hoped to do the same with the Defender, so I wanted access to useful information.

I don't know how common it is for people to come across AULRO because they need to find out something about a vehicle they own or plan to buy, but I suspect it happens fairly often.

People who simply drop their vehicle off at the dealer at the first sign of a problem and tell him to spend whatever it takes to fix it, I suspect would be less likely to do an internet search to learn about the problem.

So I would expect owners of older vehicles and people who like to understand how their vehicle works would be more likely to come across the site while searching.

D3 or D4 owners might do a bit of a search to see how much their vehicle will be worth as a trade in when they replace it in a couple of years time because the ash tray is full.

Just give new owners some time. They will start having a few problems and start looking. That's how I found it.

I'm am also very surprised how many people I meet that have no idea the site exists. I see people on other forums asking Landy questions to Toyota and Patrol nuts, you can imagine the responses. I refer them onto this site. People I see on the street that I talk to look at you with a blank face when I ask if there a member.

People could be saving a lot of time and money if they take the time to find this site. It's not hard to find, come up in searches but a bit more exposure could not hurt.
    Cheers, David.

I only came across this site whilst researching 90's for my daughter, as well doing a search for the ol' army 'inters'.

I guess the saying "build it and they will come."

I found it while researching Defenders before I bought one..

BUT the car salesman recommended it to me when I purchased the vehicle too.. (although he appears to no longer be with them now).. I imagine that if some cards were dropped at dealerships then they would be happy to put one into the new car packs they give to customers..
