Securing driving lights - previous spotties stolen

Hey guys.

So earlier this week I was unfortunate enough to have my 3 month old lightforce 210's stolen off the front of my car while I was parked in the botanic gardens of adelaide.

They were secured with a readily available lock nut such as those made by nite stalker or cibie.

I am in the market for some new spotties, and im thinking of new ways to secure these lights. If you know what the new design for lightforce is like, there are two points that i believe need securing. There is the bolt that mounts the light to the bull bar, as well as a 10mm bolt which joins the light to the adjustable mounting bracket.

So, my main question is... does anyone have any ideas/tips/tricks as to how i can stop scumbags from stealing things that i work hard to save up for?

Ha mate, I had my light force XGT's stolen last year

Well I bought a new set and I used sika flex on the cross bolt and I used a chisel to damage the threads on the bar mount bolt to make it more difficult to remove the nut. Just hope you don't need to remove the lights in a hurry

A Hella 10" seachlight was stolen from the bullbar of my County whilst parked outside my home. I drilled the new one where necessary and pressed roll pins into the drill holes. To remove you will need a pin punch and hammer.

takes me about 20 minutes to do and is easier to do if they are not all ready installed on the vehicle

Yes, its annoying, I had some Cibies stolen right outside the holiday house we were renting, they had locknuts too !!
But I've never had any stolen since- coz I never replaced them

I put in really good quality headlight inserts & drive accordingly, not much difference really.
The wink factor has gone though..

When you say lock nuts do you mean this style? We used to use them for securing access covers on manholes. I can't think of the brand name just at the moment.

I had the light force security nuts on mine and they still went. I had my car parked on base and I was away on excercise. Not sure if civi or military, either way wasn't happy.

lol as soon as i saw the second picture you posted, i knew who made them..... i've used them, and considering how much of a PITA it is to adjust my driving lights, if someone wants to steal them without using the "key", theyre either going to destroy them or they've earned them....
