What I've been doing the last 4 months

My youngest daughter was born 3 months premmy on the 2nd of november 2011 myself and then when my wife was discharged we both spent the next 11 weeks driving from wollongong to liverpool every day(because wollongong does not look after babies or mothers below 32 weeks gestation) so if you saw a beardedbloke wave from inside a silver VW mutlivan on the heathcote rd it was me
When she was born she weighed 876 grams which is under 2 pounds old scale.

There where numerous scares she gave us with holding her breath and having braccies(barccicardia) etc where both the O2 level and the heart rate drop so she needs to be rubbed and stimulated by removing her top and rubbing her chest to remind her to breathe, which caused her on her first attempt at high flow to be put back on the cpap for another week

Those photos where from near her birth whilst on a CPAP machine. She progressed from this to a high flow set up over christmas and then to a low flow then to no breathing aids at all as well as going from tube feed to bottle fed before she got to the gong.
She got moved to wollongong hospital in early january and got to go home after about 10 days in the gong so she has been home with us for almost 5 weeks now and is almost 3.5Kg's so her adjusted age is actually only 3 weeks but in reality she is almost 4 months.
Here is a pic of my oldest son holding her in gong hospital just before she came home. About 3.1 kgs there. Compared to my other children whose born weight's ranged from 3.8-4.2 Kg's she is still tiny.

So 4 months , 20,000k's and 1 speeding fine later (that I believe was more dangerous to give than my driving) we have our daughter home.

Wow man!!!! You've had it tough ....;(;(;( can't imagine what your going through or been through over the last 4 months! Here am I complaining that my kids (4 & 1) don't sleep at all....puts it in perspective now!

Drive safe, tell your mrs how much you love her, and hold those gorgeous kids as close to your heart as you can!

Thankfully Our little daughter is home now doing the same as yours and waking us up at 3am Our other 4 kids are in love with her as well, now they can see her Our 2nd youngest who is 16 months has to be chased away as she thinks our baby is a doll
We had a huge amount of help from my wifes mum who babysat the 4 older ones every day, which was most of the school hol's, when we drove to liverpool as well as the sister-in-laws who drove our older kids around and dropped Nan home as she cannot drive, along with the preschool, and my father who cooked a meal, each a week which made it all a bit easier.

That's great mate, family are everything and so happy they've been there for you. I've done that drive from the gong to Liverpool many times and it's not that exciting hey!

Make sure you get a chance to show them all how much you appreciate their help, when you get your head above water!

Nah the images never came up Matt. And the link takes me to a log in page for skydrive which I am not a member of
Besides, you can't have any time to be on the forum, never mind 4wd with having to look after so many kids and a new baby, and a wife
And you know that your daughter is going to grow up thinking that her father is the wolf man with all that hair on your face
Glad to see another proud dad, obviously she will be another daddys' girl.Enjoy the proudest moments of your life mate.

Frantic, you sure have been through a harrowing four months. Good to see it has all worked out. Having had two full term children myself, I can not imagine what it must have been like for you and SWMBO.

I reckon your user name would have been very appropriate during the four months.

Congratulations on the new addition to your clan.

    Dave.

wow, you and your family (and relos & friends) have been through the wringer.

It's frightening having kids....this little bit of your heart, a thing you love and cherish is out there, separate to you and vulnerable.

So very pleased to hear the baby is home and doing well.

Keep us up to date with progress.

    Rick

Good to hear all is going well new. Got to love the distances needed to travel when it comes to hospitals and children.
