Lightbulb Need help for science assignment please!

Hello fellow AULROers , I need some help with my science assignment. I need to come up with a problem and then conduct numerous experiments and end up finding a solution to the problem. Im totally stuck on choosing a question so Im hoping that someone here can help. I would be pretty cool if it was car related. I could do some experiments on the 3 cars in my family an old toyota camry, Kia sorento and a Jaguar (mine). P.S I also have to have an independant and dependant variable and stuff like that. Cheers! Tom

Can it be as simple as what effect low tyre presure has on fuel consumption.

Or same thing with windows up or down.

How to stay cool without aircon.

Why brakes squeek and how to stop it.

That's high school stuff or does it need to be more in a uni style thing?

    Hope this helps.

Thanks it does. Its just high school stuff. The tyre pressure/fuel consumption is actually a good idea. Ill give that a go. It will take a while though, Might not use the Jaguar though, Dont trust those readings :P

You do know you will not learn anything this way

Statistical analysis...google is your friend. I think "solution to problem" is more an explanation describing the outcome of your analysis.

If everyone in your family can and does drive any of the family cars...then a study on the reason why a choice is made.

List the reasons why a car is chosen. You will end up with a table with family member car chosen and the reason. The first two are independent the last one is dependent...enjoy

Fuel economy vs fuel RON, e.g., E10, 91 RON, 95 RON but regrettably it would take too long and cost too much

If you don't want to break/damage any of the vehicles, work out a way of accurately measuring the interior volume, except for filling them with water and weighing the result...

Milk cartons, ping pong balls, people cram, measurement, research etc.

    braking distance VS tyre pressure.
    fuel consumption VS load
    Fuel consumption VS average speed

Maybe you could use science to determine why you have good taste in cars but the rest of the family hasn't !
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

You could do a 'Why are parts so expensive in Australia?" comparison for the three vehicles versus the retail prices in their country of origin.
