ok, ill bite. What makes Landies superior? Do you think they are amune to getting bogged? do you think that idiots dont own them?. I dont think im that stupid but I managed to overfill and kill my engine.
Im sure alot of vehicles would fair the same, and my guess is when all you have left to do is have a beer or 7 watching many 1000's of $$$ go to wrecks many would.
more chains wouldn't have helped, from what I've see the suction is what holds the vehicle in place, you need something that can lift the wheels out of the holes/water before you pull it. That's why the landcruiser couldn't pull it out. I'd be unwilling to help someone in this situation without a tractor/front end loader or so way to lift it first. Sometimes best to keep away...
sounds like no one on this site has ever been bogged before. hope there isnt any hail or those glass houses will get pretty trashed.

Maybe if the cruiser tried snatching it a bit slower it wouldn't have broken the strap. Repeated snatches at a lower rate of knots would have moved it just a little each time and may have ultimately after a few goes got it out.
Going at it like a bull at a gate was never going to work - slow and steady - repeatedly may have worked.
