    AULRO Homestays

Well, after many months on the road, it's become apparent how cool it is to put faces to AULRO names. We've met quite a few on the way, and it was always a pleasure.

Another very appreciated aspect was the kind offers including camping spots, comfortable beds, warm showers, home-cooked meals and great conversations. It's amazing how even small gestures are so much appreciated to those who don't have such amenities whilst on the road.

As such, I'd like to canvas the idea of a network of AULRO members who are willing and able to provide any services, be it just a helping hand, a nice shower or even a bed for the night.

Years ago I provided accommodation for quite a few travellers using similar websites such as these [ame=http://www.google.com.au/search?q=free+homestay+travellers&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GBfficial&client=firefox-a]free homestay travellers - Google Search[/ame]. I expected nothing in return, but received some wonderful insiights form OS travellers about their part of the world. I'm confident I got just as much, if not more, out of it than the visitors! Never did I have bad feelings about a traveller, but if I did, it was part of the deal that a refusal to stay was acceptable and understandable

Anyway, not sure how this could work on AULRO, but let it be known that if anyone is travelling through our part of the world (Scarborough, QLD on our imminent return), drop me a line. I'll have a big spare bed and shower, kitchen, basic tools and perhaps anything else that probably costs me bugger all, but might be most valuable to a weary traveller. Even if you're from just down the road, if the need exists, let me know.

Sounds like a good idea. Any one here is more than welcome at my place.

Ranga. I followed some of your trip and it almost took you past my place. Unfortunately you had already passed before I knew. Had I known earlier I would have sent you an invite to call in.

    Dave.

    You are back in Qld!
I was under the impression that you was going to follow my foot steps and stay in Tasmania for ever.
It was a shame that we cannot get together, I was busy with my house hunting and other matters.
For sure you will return in the future and we can have some good quality time with the rest of the LR comminity here in Tasmania.
