A Sad end to a night out

    Gday All,

Last night my family went out for a meal at a local pizza place we visit often, and whilst enjoying our meal, in a reasonable loud dining area, there was an almighty bang and the sound of breaking glass and plates.
Our eldest daughter who is a nurse, was up in a flash along with a couple of other ladies who also turned out to be nurse,s.

When I heard for someone to call an ambulance, I knew it was serious, and when I went around the counter to see how our daughter was, I seen her doing CPR and another giving breaths to a guy laying on the floor. Now in the confusion of several people calling 000 and not knowing the address, the ambo's arrived about 10mins later.. Our daughter and the other 2 ladies still performing CPR. once the ambo's took over and then to hear the flatlining of the defib machine is something you only seem to expect to hear in movies.

I must admit as a parent that would be the proudest moment in our lives to see our daughter doing what she did and be so calm and not give up for that whole time. Then to see the ambo's and the people who were left in the place come up and thank her and the other 2 ladies was something else.

Full credit to the 3 of them who tried their hearts out save a life, I can only hope and prey they did.

A message to all, a course at st johns to learn that stuff is highly recommended as you never know when it may be needed.

    Cheers Ean

Just spoke to our daughter who is at work tonight and sadly the fellow passed away...

Definately a sad outcome, but it certainly wasnt due to him not recieving help.

I used to do mine every 18 mths when I was fishing and am due for it again. I used to think how hard it would be to do it for long periods, but to see those 3 do it last night for 10 mins was an eye opener.

Just hope it something we never ever need to use.

    +1

I just redid mine last week ... had been putting it off for more years than I care to admit to..

But very glad I've done it again... hopefully it's an investment I will never need to use.

We do CPR training annually at work. I have been doing it for over 20 Years and luckily have not had to use it. It alway weighs on the back of your mine if you could step up if needed. I feel better for knowing I can do something. Anything is better than nothing at all. You would feel better knowing you have done your best than sitting back hoping someone else will step up.

If you have not done a refresher in resent years it might be time to book in. There have been quite a few changes over the years.

At the end of the day some time our time is up. The people giving assistance can rest easy knowing they did all they could.
    Cheers, David.

    Sad outcome.
The engineer in me asks what caused the poor fellows demise? Was the glass a door or car smash? Not being callous just interested.

Not sure Ralph as it happened behind me.. Our daughter seemed to think he may have had a heart attack before he fell, but only guessing.
