Best SEQ Medium Level 4WD track for wifes first time

Hi all - I really hope this is the right place to post this, as I've looked and can't see a better category.
I'm a week away from my first 4WD and therefore first LR. Buying an 05 RR and very excited about it.

Wife is not keen on 4WDing our new family vehicle, but if she had some fun without stress about paint and vehicle destruction, I know she'd get into it.

So I'm looking for advice on the best beginners level track I can take on our first family 1 day trip.
It can't be a basic dirt road, it has to show off the RR's abilities, but not scare the crap out of her.

    Thanks for your help

    G'day CBH25,

SEQ is a pretty big place - maybe a clearer idea of where you are may help give you the most practical suggestions.

There are plenty on this forum that live up that way.

You said it's your first 4wd... and you want to show off your new RR's abilities to your wife..

Can I just point out something without meaning to sound condesending: Even on medium tacks it is a combination of the vehicles ability and the drivers skill that matter.

These vehicles will probably go well beyong your limits if pushed (assuming you have little 4wding experience)... best not to find those limits..trying to show the missus

As to good place... my vote if it's not too far north for you..would be drive the beach from Noosa up to Double Island Point lighthouse near Rainbow Beach.

Fantasic place that is sure to convince your wife that the new toy can get you to some awesome places.... good luck with it..

The best I can think of is the Condamine...maybe a bit wet ATM, but 13 creek crossings an a bit of rough track in between, nice picnic spots and come home via Queen Mary falls road...

Spicers gap.. a nice drive up with a roughish track to a nice picnic area and camping, if that interests you..

'Clear Knob' down Rathdowney way..roughish track up to spectacular views and a nice picnic spot..

Thats a few, there are heaps more depending on how rough you want to take the RR

What about Duck Creek Road at O'Rielly's? Not sure if you've been there before but it's easy to find, easy track so it won't scare your wife and if you start up the top and finish at the bottom and then turn left there is a lovely park just up the road where you can stop for a BBQ lunch.. (toilets there also)..

There is a vehicle charge now on that strip now, like nearly all beaches on the Qld coast

There are however pleasant tracks in the State forests and National parks that are free

Yes a very nice place...but if you drive up the Cooloola Way, all dirt and can be rough, you come to Rainbow Beach via inland and a vey nice drive to boot

How about a wander around the Glasshouse Mountains? Get a good map. Lots of places up there - just avoid the worst of them until you get more experience.

You would need to confirm with National Parks (or whatever they are now called) that Cooloola Way has reopened. It was closed for part of last year and might still be damaged. They have also had considerable rain up there - in the wet its exceptionally muddy/boggy and may not impress the wife. But a nice loop is through Tewantin over Noosa River, can stop at the pub for a drink/use of facilities, out onto the beach, up the Double Island Point lighthouse as suggested, then back track a couple of km's turn right up the Freshwater Track to Rainbow beach for lunch and back via the Cooloola Way.
