    Replacing Lightforce with LED bar?

I put some lightforce 240 blitz on the front of my V8 90 a couple of months ago.

The problem is they block out pretty much my whole radiator and make the car run about 5deg hotter than without (it gets very hot in the engine bay)

I can sell them on to a mate (taking a hit in the wallet). I am thinking of replacing them with an LED light bar to still give me some better lighting than stock but not take up the whole radiator frontage.

What are people's thoughts on these? There are several knocking around on ebay with quite big differences in price...

    Cheers,

    Dave

You could always mount them on the top hoop of the bar (if it has one) above the radiator, however this would impair vision. If not someone can give you advise about the light bars, or what about roof mounting???

They would stick up WAY above the bonnet line if i mounted them on top. I did look at this.
If they go on the roof I wont be able to get into my building to park. Clearance is only 2.1 meters and i am already on 35" tyres with 3" lift.

Here they are fitted to the car. Any other thoughts on mounting location would be appreciated!

    is something like this:
LED Light Bar 10" for 4x4, off-road, Work lights, Boats | eBay

Going to give anything like the light of the lightforce? It would mount just above the fairlead and create no more 'shadow' on the radiator that the winch.

Also they demo it on a disco so they must know what they are talking about!

Your lights are well forward of the radiator. I expect the only time they would be likely to interfere significantly with the airflow would be at high speeds. At low speeds the fan is drawing essentailly un-impeded air through the radiator.

Are the lights HIDs or QH? Is it current draw that is causing the temperature difference? Does the engine temperature drop when you turn the lights off?

    Just some random thoughts.

Lights on or off doesn't make a difference... When they are on, obviously it is dark so any additional load by the alternator is offset by cooler temperatures and no direct sunlight.
My main temperature problems cone in slow traffic on a hoT day.
You are right, ram air has little impact and it is all the work of the fan...
Maybe the lights aren't the issue.

Unscrew the light lenses and test it back to back

I had a hot running 200tdi 110, in slow city traffic or beach work she'd run hot, all the other time's she was fine, even when towing my 17ft boat no worries at all.
i took her to a mate at a radiator shop and while the engine was running he grabbed the
fan and spun it in the opposite direction,( caution the guy knew it was stuffed before he put his hand in)
    "clutch was stuffed"
New clutch fitted and all is good now.
