A sad end for a great man, climber and humanitarian. Not the way that anyone should go out let alone one who exists for the mountains.
Just got in and read the news on smh.com.au and am bloody shocked.
I've read many articles by him, he edited Outdoor for a long time.
His survival on and rescue from Everest would rank as one of the great mountain survival stories.
Such a shame mesothelioma took him so young, but I'd reckon he'd have lived fifty lives this time around compared to most.
Many of us have been exposed to asbestos when we were younger, it's a bit scary, but not much you can do if/when it hits.
Vale Lincoln Hall.
