    GCLRO??? Brisbane Clubs?

    Hi All,

    Just moved to Brissy!

Was looking for an active 4WD grp after I left my local Vic/NSW club

I am looking for a club around Brissy (I live a Eatons Hill) that is fairly active. It doesn't have to be a Rover club although I do own 2 Defenders so the moral support afforded by a LR club might be nice for once.

I tried to look about the GCLRO forum to confirm if there is a meeting tonight? If strangers are welcome? and where it is but I am blocked from even looking.

Can anyone suggest a club or tell me how to contact GCLRO club, I understand they meet tonight.

    Cheers, Tristan

    Hi Tristan,

The GCLRO meeting is on the first thursday of every month. The meeting is now at the Parkwood Tavern (opposite Griffiths Uni)

Its a pretty active club and does a lot of trips.

You should be able to see teh relevant info on the forum, I will check that out.

I will also send you a PM

    Pete

    Question Brisbane

    Hi All,

Just posted a thread in "General Chat" but I thought I might ask here as well; this is the only part of the forum I really read!

My wife and I just moved to Brisbane over the Christmas break. I was hoping to find a local 4WD club that was reasonably active and might run the occasional big trip. Does anyone know of a club around Brisbane that has a few Landys/Defenders that like to get out.

I am planning to go to the next BrisbaneLRO's meeting, was hoping to go to the GCLRO's meeting tonight but I am blocked from their forum (must of heard I used to have a Toyota). I plan to have a good look around for a club that suits me but wanted to get some suggestions from Defender/County owners.

    Kind Regards, Tristan

    Hey Tristan,

I see you've already found the Brisbane and the Gold Coast Land Rover clubs.. I had a day out with the Gold Coast group when I first bought the car and found them to be a friendly bunch but I ended up joining the Brisbane 4WD club Brisbane 4wd Club

Its a generic club for all makes - as my hubby doesn't drive a LR and sometimes we both like to take our cars.. and as the LR clubs had a policy that you had to attend some of the meetings.. I don't finish work until after the meetings have started so it was impossible for me to do that.. I've found them to be excellent with loads of activities from camping to social events and night runs.. all their activities are rated easy to extreme so you can choose what suits you.. There are quite a few LR's in the club - but I think that I am the only Defender owner so have had lots of people admiring the car..

Hello Tristan! You would be very welcome to join the GCLRO or simply come along to our next meeting and on a few trips to see how you like things.

We have many Defenders in our club and all sorts of trips. I would say we hold more trips per year than any other club in the country. No one has to attend our meetings either! You do have access to the GCLRO General Chat area too - just not all the club only areas, which is one of the benefits of membership.

Our meeting is not on tonight though - the GCLRO meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month - so the next meeting is on the May 3. Send me a PM if you would like to come along and I can provide you with some extra information.

    Nice 90!!!

    Hi Sue,

Is that your 90? (Avatar) Very nice looking car. I had the only Land Rover let alone Defender at my last club, it was sort of a nice thing! I will be at the next Brissy meeting, I had an email from Benn recently so will attend on the 14th May.

    Thanks, Tristan

    Hi Scallops,

I will be there too, just had a PM from Pete. I'll have to drag the the old garage queen from her slumber. Will be nice to take the LR down to the Goldy, might make a day of it.

    Cheers, Tristan

mate the Gold Coast club is a lot of fun, they have the worlds best campfire builder, the worlds best camp fire yarn spinner, you never have to prove yourself....or your vehicle...ever. the wives & girlfriends make the best hor'deuves at early campfire time and theres been a couple of decent entertainers there as well. and the monthly meets are good too.

Should there be some punctuation in there somewhere?

You might get a sudden boost in membership if not .
