Competed in the Alpine Pursuit over the weekendwhat an eye opener for a couple of old person's(my mate and myself both over 55) we were ably assisted by three young men whom got us through. It was a well organized event with very good catering and all driving requirements well founded. We were to follow as closely as possible the Alpine walking track using any and all tracks available. The P38 was up against all types of vehicles and some Comp trucks thrown in for good measure. We attacked the circuit with gusto but in places we had to scull drag the old girl, at the end of three days competition it was a very bedraggled crew that arrived in the Ranger but we were elated to compete let alone finish such an arduous trip. If any Aulro member wants some extreme fun this is the event, i had a ball we came ninth out of twenty teams and apart from the duco we made it. Fantastic weekend finally conquered Jeep track going down hill and saw Wonangatta for the first time have some fantastic photos of winching the Rangy up to the Gorge and many more high lights. I cannot recommend this style of event more highly the sponsors and organizers were behind us all for the total trip wanting us all to achieve the best results our teams and vehicles could. I am amazed the Rangy made it but came through with no long term faults and still no oil leaks whoohoo

Some of those photos of tracks look interesting. Would you mind naming the tracks in the photos?
As i was the driver and not navigator i can't remember most names so i will consult with the rest of the crew and get back to you. We left Walhalla and skirted the Thomson dam on the south west side and then headed north east to the first camp. Conglomerate creek on Jameson road then onto Howitt hut all via Jeep track,Mt Sunday, Son of a Bitch track and Bluff track. The winching was on Mt Sunday going up to the Gorge and then topping out. The last day saw us traverse Zeka spur to Wonangatta and out the other end to Harieteville all the while following the Alpine walking track as closely as possible on allowable gazetted roads.
Will get more information when i talk to the crew.
