It was Cruiser day today :0

had 2 of them in for jobs today! an HZJ78 and HJ47 (both troopies).

The place looked like a Toyota shop for a while there

Never fear, there were 5 beautiful Landies there to keep them honest

Drove the HJ47 home tonight to test on a cold morning start ( Had to rewire and replace glow plugs among other things) gee I'd forgotten how approximate they are in the steering, and at idle makes my Isuzu 110 sound like a Lexus inside

Still, solid old things its no wonder they have a fanatical following, they have as much character as a Defender or County, without the suspension, steering, brakes, etc etc...

If you do have the rare occasion to pass another 40 series cruiser on the way back to work tomorrow be sure to wave , Just like in a Landy you will most likely get a return wave back too.

If the steering is that vague It might need a new centre arm kit (steering relay in a LR) as per

True, I reckon so this one also looks the part; full racks, rear ladder, longrange tanks, big steel bar, stained NT dirt colours obligatory diesel stains down the side, bit of a classic look for one of these old rigs.

ahh my first 4x4, a HJ47 troopy. Ex telecom, ex lines vehicle. Held 180lt of Diesel. Your right about no suspension. No power steering either, FA comfort and send you deaf after a few hours. Can't say I miss it that much,

it is getting one, along with a transfer case rebuild due to only having 250ml of oil in it, (It was LEAKING) and a full set of shock rubbers and wheel bearing service in a fortnights time

Slightly off topic, but I'd read about this man's troubles with his landcruiser utes and then I literally bumped into him

But what I don't understand is, if you have trouble with one ute why buy another

I loved them for SES, not too many vehicles that can carry 10 people and a roof rack full of gear and get down narrow off road tracks.

Unfortunately the government won't buy them anymore because of the side facing rear seats and no curtain airbags....sheesh. So we have a Pajero

I had a LandCruiser in at work today as well. HDJ100R. Minor service and front brake pad replacement. 12.5 litres of Delo 400 oil .
