This gets tricky. Claiming on her insurance but we're under the same company. So technically while it's the same company, claiming against her insurance I can take her for the full cost of repairs and still keep the car?

You can't re-register write offs in NSW anymore, once it has been written off that's it.

Bugger yep gets tricky but if they make an offer as her insurance you dont have to accept remember your claim for damages is against her not the insurance if the offer is less than the cost of repairs you can claim the rest from her directly via a statment of liqidated claim from the court it will cost about $50 dollars then about the same for the sherriffs to deliver it that gives her 21 days to pay up. Send all you paperwork to her in her name try not to deal with the company unless they contact you direct. Remember they are after the cheapest fix they can get.

If you dont make a claim against your insurance policy they are only representing her so you should be able to keep your car

Well theres no mention of write off. Just easing the pressure at their end of sourcing parts (potentially from o/s) and fitting stuff that's potentially over their heads. But it gives me the option of selecting exactly what gets done and adding upgrades that work out cheaper than OEM.

So panel work is a no brainer, barring, safari or mantec snorkel?
Repair bar or replace with xrox?

If the insurance is willing to front up sufficent cash and let you organise the repairs then go for it and get what is needed to do the job right

So apart from a repairer who didn't want to complete the quote. Wanted to leave stuff on that wasn't required, and not add stuff that was. I eventually took the car back and thanks to Erich/Bundalene for a princely sum I had it back to std and took it for a wheel alignment to check to see what extra damage their may be (bent diffs/steering knuckles etc) all is ok. The wheel alignment is within 2% accuracy, but the steering box drop arm is bent (quite a feat) and the sector shaft is twisted about 30deg.

So got a report from them detailing what was replaced, what still needed to be replaced and pricing (parts/labour). Insurance has adjusted the final payout to include a new steering box, front tailshaft, and all the other bits, plus labour, final payout for mechanicals $8600- plus panel repairs paid directly to (another) repairer. It seems that the one who did the quote didn't like a customer who had an opinion and spoke to the assessor and an assessor who wanted details on the quote. So 10hours of personal running around over the last two days got the job done. The repairer tried to stand over me, physically pushed me out the door and threatened me not to come back "or else" and if he saw me again he'd "make sure that my police and claim were cancelled and he'd report me for fraudulently claiming non existent repairs" Don't know how when the assessor has pics of the damage and we're now on a first name basis.

Spoke to the insurance co about it, they are now off the preferred repairer list and have also been reported to the insurance industry ombudsman by both me and insurance. Expecting $$$ in the next few days and then it's a spending spree on the D2.

So listing in no particular order:
    QT 3deg radius arms.
QT drag link, panhard rod and track rod.
QT engine mounts & spare bushes.
    QT diff guards.
    Snorkel Safari or Mantec (Recomendations?).
    Woods F & R tailshafts.
    1" coil spacers.
    Extended stainless brake lines.
    Pair new front hubs.
Set 5 Ku Alloys rims (road).
    Set 6 Steel Rims (off).
    Watts link arms.
2 sets new tyres. Road plus trying some Federal M/T's recomended and getting a good price (comments?)

Depends. If you want wading, i'd say Safari. Dusty roads, Mantec. Both?
Go the Safari. But in the end, it all comes down to your opinion.
    Hope this helps

Mantec is 225pound shipped, safari 550-$ plus fitting.

Was also thinking of the validity of all HD stuff in the steering vs keeping a std unit in somewhere as a "fuse" so something can give rather than take everything out again. Probably the drag link, if it goes it has negligible effects, smallest to carry a spare. Protects the steering box from mega damage as well. Got it out last night and the drop arm literally twisted off the spline and the shaft is visibly twisted.

    Curious

    Curious

I was wondering how did the other drivers car end up?

I do realise that after what has happened, you may not care to know.

On that repairer, good on you, there are too many about like him, you must have got too close to the truth for him to act that way towards you.
