would you be better using a roller to get the round effect instead of bending it a little at a time

    Thanks again guys..

Cal - I was just about to shoot you a message to see what thickness you used on yours - but you answered my question.

I think I will go 1.6 or 2mm plate alloy sheet. I don't plan on standing on it.

Will get some pics up in the next couple of weeks.

    Cheers

i had the opertunity to grab 5x 2400x1200 3mm sheets for 200 for the lot, so it was an easy choice for the 3mm for me

Its pretty tough, several times now i have been lent over into a fairly solid tree and had to drag the radius section of the roof along it being so high and such a long vehicle, i also dragged the side of it around a tree branch sticking out a few times at fraser. Just had to wipe the remains of the tree bark off and you wouldnt even know it happened.

I managed to bend full sheets of 3mm checker plate for my tray floor by scoring/cutting a slight groove (about 1mm) into the back of it, clamping it to a large flat horizontal surface, and then pushing down on it with the bucket of my small tractor. I guess you don't have a small tractor with a bucket though Andrew .

Sorry I don't have a better picture than this with me:

My existing canopy frame has small round bents exactly like Cal415 custom frame.

I have a sheet metal shop just around the corner from my work who reckon they can do it out of 3mm, but they are yet to see the truck.

Hopefully next week I will drive into work and get them to see it they can do it.

Are thinking about it some more, I would prefer 3mm sheet so that it can be walked on and I will probably make ladder/surfboard racks later on.

    Thanks
