I Know a few of you guys and girls are allready there, so i would like to know of your experence and tips which you have had to make to make it a worthwhile thing to do..
Thanks
Will.

Good money but like working in a socialist country. They are ruled by over the top ohs bull. No matter how hot you are rugged up. Very long hours. Good way to get ahead.

The mines are always looking for sparkies, you can always try and negotiate a job for your wife as well if thats what you want. Residential jobs are few and far between and that depends on if you can live remote. It can be rewarding with heavily subsidised rent, power & water, plus especially in the Pilbara a lot of spectacular country to see. FIFO can be good too, some will FIFO out of Perth only, some other locations, some even eastern states and NZ.
You do have to be able to comply with rules etc and some may say a lot are over the top but they are there for a reason. You also need to be able to pass D&A testing regularly. If you are like me I do not drink on site (except maybe for a glass of wine at ERT BBQs on a Sunday Night). Best way to save money. Some rosters are 8/6 some 14/7.
Good luck if you go down this path.

Hi there
There is always a shortage of sparkies (or most trades) in the Mining Industry - but its a little different to civi work (Industrial).
Money is great but the hours are long (Minuimn of 12hrs / day) - can be difficult on families if you choose the FIFO option.
I work 8/6 roster which i think is great (Thursday to Thursday)
Any questions PM me
All the best
