    Make a choice

Hmmm, Ive had the current defender 200TDi for 12 odd years...its served me well and Ive always done my own maintenace, over the years Ive had to to fix most of it, but its had a hard life and I reckon any car regardless of pedigree would have had a similar maintenance profile. It would be fair to say it fits like a favourite shirt and as every defender owner knows, when you are bashing along rough tracks or just making your own, there is no other vehicle like a defender, you can stick your modern electric of plastic japanese lounges where you see fit....they are built for the road and then the bin. My dilemma is this....I also own a disco series 1, town car. Its not bad either, a little more plastic and with only electric windows and airbags to complicate things its ok...comfortable quiet and modern....essentially a defender with a more modern cab....but to choose which one to keep wow what a decision.... the family love the disco for its comfort, I love the Defender for its simplicity and ease of maintenace...its also a bit better offroad....anyone out there got any input? Anything I can do to make the defender more family freindly? Or should I embrace the 21st century and go with the Disco?.....

    Smile

You will probably get more money selling the defender.

Flog 'em both and get yourself a nice P38a!

Keep the defender and stick a 300tdi with auto in it along with disco fron seats and have the rears retrimmed to suit - best of both worlds.

    Buy a VW Amarok.
Seriously. Defenders do Rock. But they are a truck. Choose what suits your need. Not your heart

I own a 300TDI Disco because I live inner city as well as using it for off roading. It's the perfect middle ground that does both. My next purchase will be a Defender. But with any luck I'll keep the Disco as well. So, my current situation is only a Disco OR Defender and I find the Disco is great.
