    air bags

Hi everyone,I missed a head on the other nite by a few inches, coming down the Dorrigo mtn ,around a bend to just miss a mad man who had overtaken a line of traffic across the double lines. It was so quick, no chance to avoid, just bloody lucky.Anyway I've decided to get rid of the old ute and get myself a TD5 defender and now I'm wondering if they come with passenger and driver air bags ? and what would be the earliest year they did ? Thanks

Not even the new pumas do either, which is why they aren't allowed to sell them in North America, and why the current design will become obsolescent in the near future, sad i know as they can be dangerous when properly 4wding, but they're the rules, I can't see why they can't be retrofitted though like on a Disco 1

My new MY12 110 doesn't have one, I believe they are the only passenger vehicle sold in Aus without an airbag

I don't think the Landcruiser (70 series) has one either, still rather have a crash in either of these than a small car with 5 airbags (into each other)

I read somewhere (I'm desperately trying to find the information again) that Defender occupants only have a 1% chance of dying in a crash, compared to about 6% for a Land Cruiser, and 6-8% for a small passenger car.

Found it - Keep in mind it was from Wikipedia. Take it as you want to.

'Overall the four best vehicles to be in are the Jaguar XJ series 1%, Mercedes-Benz S-Class / SEC 1%, Land Rover Defender 1% and Land Rover Discovery 1%.'
