Oh No. No Remlr Forum. What will all the Keyboard collectors do?
Australia's version of War and Peace happened over the weekend, and apart form the 3 in my group who displayed, and 1 member who came and said hello, Not 1 single Remlr member was spotted at this show over the weekend, let alone dragging thier passion out to show the public what it is all about.
I personally am over all of those on here who like to gob off online, but NEVER take out what they have, nor support anything other than what they think will give themselves some sort of percieved elevated status so they can feel good about themselves.
REMLR.com is great. A wealth of information built over many years by alot of people. Generally, the forum is great, as a place to help spread that information and bring new people to the fold. It is a priviledge that AULRO hosts it and it is not stuck on the REMLR site in reletive obscurity.
But in alot of ways, I am glad it is gone. People might actually go out to their shed, or a show, instead of sitting infront of a screen talking up how good they are or undermining other people's efforts.
I find it hard to believe there was not 1 person interested in seeing live action re-enactmants from the Boer war to Vietnam incorporating people, vehicles, aircraft and rotary wing. Static displays, animals and entertainment.
Thank god for the MVCA and MJCQ, and those that actually do something. No wonder most of the REAL enthusiests are not online.
Here is what you missed from the comfort of your desk chair. I was too busy displaying and driving my landie, fixing a Centurion, Saladdin and parading F1 and F5 Inters. Didn't have to drive the M113 this year.

It is not a clear cut as you may think Col.But in alot of ways, I am glad it is gone.
Many of us from all over Australia read the REMLR section out of interest because (in my case) I have past connections with In service LR FFRs & therefore find those posts most interesting. I do not own an ex Mil vehicle but I do own a restored civvy S2A. I wasn't aware that it was mandatory to own an ex-Mil be able to read REMLR posts.
Many of us do not live near, nor can afford to travel to these venues & being on a retirees fixed income, I have to save like buggery just to take a holiday in your part of the country for a week. Maybe you are well heeled to enable you to live your hobby & that's great.
While I can understand your frustration, I do not believe you should tar everyone here with the same brush.
I do not tar everyone with the same brush 4Bee, far from it. I fully understand people have various levels of both resources and interest, and can only get to and do what they can.
What I do take exception to is alot of those who have always got something to say, but you never see them or their gear out and doing anything, yet slag you off because you do or say something about REMLR that would help improve it.
REMLR has interested persons all over the country, but you hardly ever see where someone has actually been and done something. Go back through all the threads and find some reports of trips, or photo's of events.
The people I am talking most about, are those who HAVE to be in everything, just so they can highlight it in their signature at the bottom of their post, who gob off and carry on about how much they supposedly know, pretend things they are going to buy, mercenaries using this to their own advantage and those who termite others, do nothing, go nowhere and make out on a forum like they are GOD.
I have a group of alot of good people who are active in their own way, but may not have been there on the weekend, are limited in what they can do and have and that is fine. It is more about attitude.
I am just saying. My money is where My mouth is. The message is. "Put up, or Shut up"
You know who you are.

G'day Folks
I wasn't there because I was attending a High School Reunion, for the class of 1958and if I was there, I would have been attending as a member of MJCQ (Military Jeep Club of Qld) as REMLR.inc, is only a registry, and therefore does not have Public Liability Insurance, that is why members are encouraged to join their local Military Vehicle or Historic Club.
cheers
Colonel,
I am not sure if I'm in the group you point out in your second post, but with or without that I am a bit surprised by your post.
I thought I had you pegged as an enthusiast who was pretty tolerant of others no matter what level of involvement. I've seen posts of encouragement for people working on their vehicles from you and with your involvement in SLOW as well I figured you were a person who liked to lead by example... eg:- love the vehicle, use the vehicle, meet and promote fellowship with other enthusiasts.
This post, seems to me, to be opposite to some of those as I would think if I was thinking of joining, then saw this vehement post I'd turn about and stay away prefering to be on my own!
I'm hoping that it is the disappointment of numbers to the show in which you have participated that has caused this to seem so aggressive in contrast to your normal 'tone'. I appreciate that you enjoy showing your vehicle/s, I think MVCA is great and is for any military vehicle enthusiast but also promotes showing/displaying the vehicle/s for others to see.
There are a number of people who own their vehicles for their own reasons, I know of some of these vehicles that have been saved from a terrible condition but have never been intended for display, I would have thought that would have been an individuals choice not a compulsory thing and that the most important thing is that they are surviving.
I do thank you for adding those links as a large percentage of the forum doesn't reside in QLD and didn't either know this event was on, or were at home, work etc and trying to get money to keep surviving... For most of us, (I assume you too) the vehicles are a "hobby" and therefore must take a back seat to the family and kids in both time and budget.
I am sure I am one of the "keyboard bandits" to whit you refer but I joined the site for both the information and assistance available and for the obviously friendly and tolerant manner in which its run. (If I want an arguement I can get one anytime at work by just being there...)
As I have said, this seems to me to be out of character for you and I hope it is the disappointment and not your new "default" position. I'd hate to think that you would knowingly push people away from this area of interest in any way.
Thanks for the links, it would make a nice thread for us lowly interested parties once REMLR is back up.

Digger,
It is no secret I LOVE MY LANDIES, and do everything I can to promote and encourage everything I can to help motivate and encourage others to join in the fun.
It is not about how many numbers we get. I am just as happy with 2 people as 200.
I am sick of being ****canned for it by those who sit back and chuck off at the efforts I and others put in, but you never see them contribute, just because they either don't control it, or it is not how they would like it done.
I don't care who you belong to, what you turn up in or whatever. Stop knocking those who do. It's a glass houses thing.
It is not just Military, it happens with SLOw too, and strangly enough from alot of the same people.
So you are right. It is out of Character, and more me venting than anything. But I am well over it.
There will be photo's and vid posted somewhere for you all to enjoy.
Personally I would love to see reports of people doing stuff. Could even be you took your landy to a school fete and the kids loved it. You drove down the shops to buy fish and chips.
Not at all on here are who they seem. Unless alot of the time you meet them personally, you never get to know.
Uncle Ho, I know you were trying and hope you get your GS back together soon.
