Thread: Fan belt pulley - Ser 11A

I hope your problem is not to serious and, I dont want to be the messenger of bad news but 6 cyl landrover engine waterpumps are very hard to come by and I am not talking just in Australia.It would have to be most likley the hardest L/R part to get.
If the housing is ok it can be rebuilt useing a kit from a four cylinder L/R engine and any machanic or good handy man should be able to rebuild it, other wise find a six cyl rover 90 car engine they were the same engine.

If it is just the pulley, that could be made by any competent machine shop, and there may be some available. But I fear the most likely reason for the pulley failing is that the pump bearings had seized. There are several threads on the six cylinder water pump, and a search should find them While pumps are very scarce, as are overhaul kits, if the housing is in usable condition a good machine shop should be able to modify a kit for another pump to work.

not sure why pulley has failed.... now that I have the pulley off... I have checked the pump... it does spin easily, and did pump small bits of water out of the open housing,,,, (where the upper radiator hose was).

would this be a good sign to indicate all okay with pump????

I have managed to locate a replacement (new) pulley.. only $44.. so I am pretty happy with that.... thanks for the quick replies...
