is a snorkel necessary....

Hey,

Sorry my last message was abit short...Ive been offered a job on Carnegie station in WA for the mustering and I'll probabily end up going back and forwards a couple of times along the tail end of the gunbarrel towards Perth.

The main concern is getting bits sorted over the next few weeks and Im just putting an order through to the UK of all the bits I forgot last time and the worry was whether its essential.....

Ive heard about the bull dust but never experienced it! Im cleaning enough of it out of my tdi now though!

Very nice part of the world. Gets very soft after rain, but nothing you should need a snorkel for.

Investing in an exhaust jack, winch, ground anchor and maybe some (sand) ladders may be a good idea though!

IME the UK-made aftermarket snorkels are small diameter and do not look like they would flow especially well.

Only drawbacks I can think of are loss some vision, and some types can get caught on (and damaged by) overhanging shrubbery. In some cases the extra intake restriction may be significant, but most modern engines would simply increase the turbine speed to compensate.
