As for you Water Wasters, VB is quite commly referred to here as VOMIT BOMBS amoungst other names..
and even in the far north of the state has lost favour! ... (that said, Fourex Gold has made some inroads there though, helped by heavy promotion for a few years like fourex girl visits to outback/country race meetings!)

FOSTERS is purely for import surely, as our way of proving we hate the rest of the world!

All that aside, I have done my best to support Qld and to support the Australian sugar industry by drinking "black rat" cans of bundy (referred to as "queensland diesel") for many years now, and even got into the new "Bundy First aid" (red label smooth bundy) and greens (bundy/dry/lime in a can).

(try some of the Coopers home brew... you may surprise yourself)

I like Southwark Bitter too (we used to call it "Green Death" )

All we have to do is get you look to stock "Farmers Union Iced coffee" and I could make extended visits comfortably.... Oh, hold on I think I just realised why you don't stock it.....

I think I'll stay here in the Riverland, we get more sun than you lot anyway

I have tried most of them. Most of them taste funny and will never be bought again. Some are quite good. All are overpriced.

Ahhh..., now I remember why I started drinking xxxx. My son brews coopers, not a bad drop, the way the price of beer is going up, worth a try. If you haven't already, pay a visit to the Bundy Brewery in Bundaberg [ of course ] Interesting, there are huge wooden vats with about $5 million worth of rum stored at any one time. The vats are covered now, but back in the 1800's they were open, with the warehouse roof the only cover. During one nasty thunder storm, lightning crashed thru the roof & set fire to the rum. The vats burned down, and the local towns people came out in force with every available pot & pan, & filled them with rum , which was running down the gutter! The river had a blue haze over it for days, which was the rum burning off. The brewery has a tasting room, where you can taste any bundy product. [ some not on the open market] You only get 2 or 3 tastes. Wearing a Groucho Marx glasses & moustache disguise wont give you another go, either. Bob

Well good on you. Given the choice between XXXX gold and water, I would choose water every time. Time and time again it has been proven that there are plenty of idiots out there... hiclone or fuel saver pill anyone???

First time I have seen it. Was quite good.

XXXX Gold and Light and other mid and low strength beers came about as a result of the unremitting 40+ years campaign against drink driving and thus the change to the social habits of a nation. Introduction of the breathalyser and later random roadside stops and booze buses hastened the acceptance of lower strength beers. Also broke or nearly broke a lot of pubs. Around my locality one rarely now sees crowds of drinkers as was once the case. My local used to have a moderately busy late morning and lunch crowd. Nowadays one only sees a handful in there at this time of day, sometimes only the staff standing around. The once crowded after work sessions with drinkers spilling out the doors are now comfortably not crowded. The once full parking lot now only has a few cars any time of day.

XXXX Gold is far and away the best of the mid-range beers hence its popularity in this breath tested age.

I've taken to drinking Great Northern lately, pretty sure it's low carb. Not the nicest beer when compared to some others (love some of the James Squires), but quite drinkable in my opinion.

you have to be kidding... Of the mainstream mid strength beers I personally think that Carlton Mid is the best tasting.

Though I would prefer to have something like coopers pale and just drink less of it.

But as for your reasons for why people drink mid strength beer - IME most in northern australia prefer mid strength beer as it is easier to drink more of it in hot weather. Try drinking a stubbie of Cooper's Extra Strong Vintage Ale in 35oC heat and 100% humidity!!!
