A good idea is to do a recce first to make sure you know where your going, plan a good lunch spot with room for anticipated no of vehicles, Take a pic or two of any obstacles and ensure that if anyone gets stuck you can help them out.

I found obstacles were a good drawcard for people, either to test their truck, to show off or to learn new skills.

Even the best & most well prepared trip leaders always had a First Trip.

I used to recce mine on a Trail Bike first , just can cover a lot of ground faster.
If you go on your own to do a recce take a chainsaw & tirfor to cover all bases.

this link might come in handy 4x4 Earth Australia for 4WD Tracks

I'm always up for a day out driving George.. well any time when I don't have anything planned or am working (which sadly is a lot)..

But I never see the trip posts.. probably because I am time poor and forget to look in that section of the forum, so I did a search to see what you had proposed and I saw that you were organising a trip to City View 4WD park for this weekend.. and then I looked out the window and noted that it's been raining for the last three days.. and then I thought 'City View'.. in the wet..!!

Not sure if you've been there or not George but a lot of the tracks are on clay.. on hills with long drops off to the sides.. no way would I risk it when it's been wet.. that could account for a fair few of the people who pulled out of the trip.. but I believe that Scenic Rim 4WD park is moving house so it might be worth trying to organise a weekend there for any interested people as I am sure that there will be members interested in looking at the new park.. Mates are either busy or have a broken truck atm. I just tought it would be nice to meet a few people from Aulro and have a day out with rovers . The size of the site and the member numbers around Brisbane certainly made me anticipate a bigger response .

Every day out driving, camping and being in our great enviroment is outstanding. company is fine, sharing is great, being out is the goal for me. I can enjoy the view from a mountain or any of oour outdoors locations. Sharing is fine, enjoying it yourself is the key to a happy life in my simple mind. Plan a trip and post it. if people can come they will. you can and should have fun either way.

I'd be in for another overnighter ...I'll bring the donuts for the midnight snack Dobbo

We could go back to Belanglo again ...surely there isn't to many more Milat's left roaming the forest who haven't been locked up yet?

    cheers,
    Terry

PS ...you can come to Manchild if you want. Be warned after a night in Belanglo with Dobbo and donuts you may never want to go camping in a group ever again though.
    Cheers,

    There's one around here.
I'll give him a heads up on the trip if you like.

I hear he's really good with an axe........for firewood.

For some unknown reason, Belanglo is apparantly the most visited forest in NSW.
Won't get me down there .......................... too crowded.

This is more my kind of Forest ..........

You coming to the glasshouse trip on the 16th? I've helped organise a couple of outings recently, with help from the Ho Hars and Barefoot Dave. Just give heaps of notice, and try to keep the thread alive, especially as the date nears. With each trip we've had about 4-5 cars, which is a pretty easily manageable amount. I'd say you'd want to keep the convoy under 10 cars, or it might become a logistical nightmare.
