    Hired a two door once

Thirsty and tiny inside. Reminded me of a Suzuki Serria.

Drove one around the Big Island of Hawaii for a week and it handled well, we both enjoyed it. The hire car was pretty gutless though as it only had a 3 speed auto and the petrol engine had very poor torque. SO I can't comment on performance.

The main dislike I had was it doesn't have a lot of room to store anything. Makes a Disco 1 seem positivley spacious. Oh and it had the steering wheel on the wrong side (being left hand drive).

My brother has one very good off road and huge amount of after market products. It eats the fuel and doesn't really have that much power.

I had a 2008 Wrangler. So I know a little bit about them...

Before 2007 it was the old TJ model, only a straight 6 and short wheel base.
From 2007 the new model JK came with some options: v6 petrol, diesel, manual auto, 2 and 4 doors, rubicon (twin lockers and disconnects)
The manuals are full of clutch issues, would only recommend the autos.

2011 they have redone the interior, to a more car like standard.
2012 they introduced the new petrol engines that are amazingly fast!

A 2012 auto rubicon 2 door would be your pick if you want an offroad weapon.
On the other hand if you want the space and diesel, get a 2008 4 door, although in this configuration I would be biased towards a Defender.

In general, the JK has some quality issues, not too different from the Pumas...
If you have any specific questions, just let me know..

I picked up my JK four door Pentastar Wrangler Auto Hard Top three weeks ago. So far - with only some 2300 kms now on it - it is great. Very comfortable on the bitumen or tracks with surprising highway 'punch' and so far sure footed on muddy forestry trails. Where ever it is it is a very quiet ride too.

There are some issues to be aware of though with a JK. Some bad some not so bad - it depends on what you want. Happy to help if I can.

Are you looking at petrol or diesel, manual or auto and Rubicon or Sport Unlimited?

I am looking at all of them ATM. How is the fuel consumption on the petrol.

Can you tell me what are the known problems or idiosyncrasies they have. The new penistar engine seems good so far. Do the autos have any problems

I have read the old 3.8lt V6 is not a good match to the auto but the new set up is really good
