I think that's what ebay is for.
If you are THINKING of selling something, and wish to know roughly what its worth, then how does one post that on the site without making it a so called "what's it worth" thread?
I think that's what ebay is for.
Damien, perhaps a markets add with 'Sensible offers only' conditions?
JC
Not after offers, nor do I want to stick it on ebay, just want to know what its worth.
When I know what I want to do with it I will advertise it in markets if I decide to sell it.
Perhaps a 'what's it worth' forum in the markets section.
I feel for you Vern. I tried to do the same thing a while back and had no joy whatsoever. Overall this is a fantastic site but boy it can be frustrating at times.
Certainly is. First thread I did was pulled, thought may be I didn't post it correctly as I was using the tablet the net is down here, second I got a pm say I can't have a "what's it worth" thread', I need to place it in the markets. Fair enough, but place what in the markets, I wasn't selling it, I just wanted to know "what its worth"

"What's it worth?" is pointless.
If you ask me what a vehicle or car part is worth I will tell you but will I pay that for it?
Put it on ebay with a ridiculously high reserve. Let the market speak.
Vern whats it worths are banned because it is seen as canvassing for sales outside of the markets section which is a big no no....
there have been many cases in the past where people have done it not because they are thinking of selling but actually are.
Yes some people out there are genuine and only want to know out of interest like yourself however there have been many in the past that have spoiled it for others by pushing the boundaries so a blanket ban was brought in,
because it is to hard to distinguish between genuine and non genuine everyone has to be treated the same..
This is not a new rule if you look at the wheres my thread gone you will note that was posted in 2009
I'm sure this will not relieve your annoyance of the situation however I hope it explains it a bit for you
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......
Thanks db, I could read between the lines and do understand all that, but it still doesn't help me
Oh and Mick, I honestly don't care what YOU would pay for something, but at least you could tell me what its worth so then I could sell it to someone else, and could sell it in the aulro markets to support the site and help out a fellow aulroian.
Also I won't be replying to the pm's I was sent asking for info on the car/bits, pm when/if advertised.![]()
