Someone killed her, dumped her in a paddock, unknowlingly next to a previously discarded toothpick.

Here is a clue. Hot air balloon.

She was joining the Mile High Club in a Hot Air Balloon and fell out. That doesn't explain the toothpick though.

and pricking a hot air balloon with a toothpick would do no damage to its airworthiness at all, so I hope this isn't headed down that path....

She was on a hot air balloon with three people in. something happened to the balloon and it started to go down fast, in order for the people to live, they had to lose as much weight as they could. They stripped down and the balloon was still going down, in order to see who had to jump out, they drew straws, and she lost since she had the shortest toothpick, and she had to jump out, and died
