Firstly I wish your Dad all the best.
Someone I work with has just got over bowel cancer (chemo, radiotherapy & op) and a good friend has prostrate cancer.
Seems that there are a number of options with prostrate cancer. Op, robot op, gold seeds and radiotherapy and my friend is undergoing another treatment that should keep him going until he's at least 85.
The important thing as we get older is that we get regular checkups. I had a colonoscopy recently and they removed a polyp which was non cancerous. I then found out that over the age of 50 it's suggested that you have a colonoscopy every few years.
The procedure is straightforward the preparation is a PITA (literally).
Blokes don't talk about this sort of stuff. The chap I work with was discussing his bowel cancer procedures with some of his friends and several then had colonoscopies, two are now undergoing surgery !
