Good choice of vehicle. I had one for a few days when there was a problem with the electrics in my D4 just after I bought it. The only thing I didn't like about the one I had was that it was a manual. In the past I have always preferred manuals, but because I was in Perth at the time, an auto would definitely have been the better choice.

The price difference you've quoted doesn't surprise me. A demo model with a few k's on it will ask about the same price in Perth as what you've quoted - though you need to make sure that you're comparing like for like in model and accessories / specifications etc. I bought a demo D4 with 1,000 k's on the clock, and saved a similar amount to what you have been quoted on a new D4 of even lower spec that I was quoted on a couple of months earlier at the other dealer in Perth (there are only 2 LR dealers in Perth, both owned by the same person). The current LR "drive away no more to pay" deal also helped swing the deal. Based on what I was originally quoted, I was very close to buying a VW Amarok - but called in at the LR dealer on the way back from the VW test drive and was offered a very good deal on the D4 that I ended up buying.

I'd be taking that trip to Launceston.

Just make sure you're comparing like for like. 45K is cheap for a FL2 with 500km if it's metallic paint and auto. I doubt it would have any extras like towbar, mud flaps, floor mats etc. Make sure they are the same spec.

I've had a FL2 for nearly 5 years. Very happy with it, still a joy to drive.
