    My 47L ARB fridge failed.

Turned it on, said 14deg. One hour later it said 17deg. Next morning it said 22deg and everything inside is frozen solid

Runs constantly. Failed thermistor. Googled and found a few like cases. Fridge is 2yrs & 11 months into its 3yr warranty. Apparently the thermistor is not replaceable. Fridge is serviceable ... with an angle grinder

Sometime late Sept' 2009 they changed the design to a replaceable thermistor. Turns out it was about 100 units after my serial number, which was purchased October 2009.

Rang ARB Newcastle where I purchased it, and they have replaced it with a brand new fridge and new transit cover !

Apparently there has been a few tweaks and improvements since mine was made.

Certainly can't knock the service, or the product. It has been great up until this failure.

So now i have a brand new fridge ! Thumbs up for ARB / ARB Newcastle !

Am about to buy the ARB 60L fridge!

    Hey Kev,

How's it going? I've been saving up for a while now to buy the 60L ARB fridge so good to know they replaced your fridge with a new one. Luckily for you, it broke down just before 3yr warranty expired!

I might head your way in a few week's time to go for a drive up at Stockton. Never been there so if you're free, might catch up for a beer eh?

    Cheers,

    Ernie.

Oh dear .... seems I spoke too soon. The new fridge is a dud !

As soon as its plugged into 240v or 12v the fan starts running before the fridge is turned on. Left it running all last night on 240v full of 2L water bottles, set to 2deg C, light on panel says it's cycled OFF but fan is still running this morning, and it's at -15deg C and everything's frozen .... ****!

Rang ARB ... they ask me to try it on 12v ... it's in the D2 now, plugged in but NOT turned ON, fan is running, and it's gone from +12deg C down to -20deg C in 1Hr 40 minutes ... and it's NOT turned ON.

Looks like it's ANOTHER replacement fridge .... now I'm not a happy camper

    Stay tuned .........
    Kev..

I bought an EvaKool a month or so ago and it had problems as well. Mind you it was from their RV range with a knockoff copy of a Danfoss in it. It wouldnt hold a temperature any where near consistently. I swapped it for an Engel and couldnt be happier.

    Can't believe they can't just replace a thermister,a 50c part?

Engle is the go,no thermisters done almost 30yrs,never missed a beat.

ARB always seem excellent with their warranty.

Mate of mine recently had an ARB air locker fixed for free,& it was well out of warranty.

Where do you buy a 30 year old Engel - because the new ones have thermistors.

I'm with Paul, I can't believe a thermistor couldn't be accessed so it can be replaced ?

In our game we replace the things all the time.
