    Had this happen to me a while ago. When I started to look at why, I found one of the small screw that hold the throttle butterfly on the shaft had gone AWOL. Pulled the head off, and found it had jammed the inlet valve open. Pulled it out, screwed it back in where it lived, used some silastic as a head gasket (too tight to pay $8 for a new gasket) and away it went. It lasted another 4 years before it eventually died for good.
