    Plumbing question.

Does anybody know if I can get a compression fitting to tee poly off 1/2" copper?

Ian, what type of poly is it ?

You need a 1/2" copper tee (compression or silver soldered style) for the line, with a 1/2" BSP threaded female branch.

Attach a connector (to suite the style of poly you have) with a 1/2" BSP threaded male, into the brach on the copper tee ... Attach poly pipe to other side of connector.

    Easy !

Plasson brand makes a poly pipe tee that has ends that will attach direct to 1/2" copper without soldering, and the required 1/2" female BSP thread.

    Qs? Ask me.

Thanks Kev, I haven't got the poly yet, it's to run to an extra, new tap at the back of the yard to save dragging 40 metres of hose. Bunnings/Masters are a last but convenient choice, my favourite hardware man doesn't do plumbing.

Ok. You want some blue stripe poly ... To go 40m use 25mm (it only has a 3/4" ID) ... Using a smaller size will work, but you'll get a heafty pressure drop over that distance.

Same copper or poly (blue stripe) tee as mentioned prior, and a 25mm poly x 1/2" male BSP threaded adapter (to screw into the copper/poly tee) .... Plus whatever you need for the other end to do a tap/standpipe.

go to reece and ask for a poly tee and a poly to copper adaptor (size to suit) run a little bit of polly from the tee centre and then use the poly to copper adaptor... no compression fittings needed..... but remember it is illegal to fitt compression fittings under the ground or behind walls.... Remember a Plumber protects the health of the nation..... so use a licenced one.
