I wanted to use the D2s jack today to lift a boat trailer, I got the Shiney NEVER USED jack out from the engine compartment cubby hole and what? the oil must have leaked out... Not only do landies leak oil so do their accessories

Mine doesn't go all the way up, so assuming it's leaked somewhat, although it goes just high enough to get the wheel off the ground, so I've done nothing about it.

Funny thing, i noticed mine leaking this week too, found a hairline crack in the side which was only noticable with a bit of weight on it.

    Hello.

I inherited the hydraulic jack from my late Dad's truck - originally came from a pre-war International and still works just fine.

What is it about durability that Land Rover engineers never quite got?

    Cheers,

    Cheers,
Actually, the jack in a D2 is made by Cora in Italy. They all leak, just like FIATs and Alfas... Supercheap sell bottles of oil for around ten bucks. Keep some in the car along with everything else. They fill through the hole in the side.

Mine leaked while it was on its side under the bonnet. I now carry it upright in a rear bin and it still leaks

I was told today that Land Rover had a big recall on jacks? I wonder it that is true.
