You have good taste in music for a youngun Cameron ... I don't go the Vai, Satriani or Van Halen thing, it's just toooooo clinical and technical for me, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't admire their talent and ability for what it is.

Just not my cup of tea.

Joe Walsh was another close runner up
And Tommy Emmanuels "The Journey" is another personal favourite.
I think I might have to edit my original list to put Gary Moore in there, probably at number 5, knocking them all down a post.
I mean..."Still got the blues" and even stuff like "Parisian Walkways" is simply fantastic, what you said about saying more with less rings true to those, particularly still got the blues

    Cheers

i happen to catch Tommy live in a Albury Pub many years ago, it the best live performance i have seen......apparently his brother is pretty handy as well

I like to think so, thank the old man for that
Billy Gibbons is another favourite, he's just too cool
I quite like Satriani's "Surfing with the Alien", but that's because it's a tricky piece of music. I admire his technical ability more than his song writing abilities

Best live performance i've seen would have to be Dweezil Zappa.
Good mix of classic Frank stuff, and some of his new stuff, and some good audience interaction. I've got his signature on my pin board.
Perfect sound, normally when it gets really loud it's horribly distorted, his was probably the loudest I've heard but also the clearest
And the guy walking around outside hugging people on acid was pretty mint too, but hey. It's a Zappa concert, what do you expect?
EC was good, but it was just a bit one sided.
He walked on, played his stuff and left, but I suppose you don't go to see him talk about his day
Seen the Finn brothers twice, which was quite good
Santana was lots of fun too, pretty sure the Gypsey Kings opened for him, could be wrong though

Although a bass guitar player, Les Claypool is right up there for me.

I agree with your number 1 there Disco Muppet, it was the first name that sprang to mind when I read the thread title

(And Richard Parry is one of the few people who I believe should be let anywhere near a saxaphone)
