Thread: Reclaim The Night.

After the horrific rape/murder of Gillian Meagher there are marches being held to make a public statement about violence against women. This is a subject that I as a male am very passionate about as I grew up in a house where my father used to bash my mother and it has left an impression on me that even after all these years I still have flashbacks.

I remember hiding behind the garage when the bashings were going on and I swore an oath to myself that when I grew up I would NEVER subject my family to what I am going through. I was about 9 or 10 years old at the time.

Next Friday 26/10/12 there will be a march for women and supporting men at Toronto near Newcastle at 6.30pm between the Coles supermarket and the Courthouse for a march along the Boulevarde and also in Newcastle at 6.45pm at the Honeysuckle Hotel for a march along the foreshore.

I urge all people, particularly males who are sick of the violence in society today and particularly against women to be there. I will be at Toronto!!

I sympathize with you and support that movement.
Unfortunately I am to far south to be there.
My father teach me to respect women and to remember that I was in this world thanks to the pain and love of one of them.
