From what I read the idiot stabbed himself by running into the knife all the old guy did was hold it for him, i doubt he will get charged unles the fool is found and has a different story

I bet the old bloke does get charged but hopefully the burglar will live so he won't be up for murder. His problem is he kept a knife for just that purpose, to frighten off intruders.
How the burglar came to be wounded won't come into it, you're supposed to lavish love and kisses on them and give up your goods and bank account pins.

Given that he declared the fact that he was armed, and the bloke pretty much did it himself, I think it's unlikely he'll get charged, unless there's a different story.
Take it to a trial by jury and we all know the outcome

Now I'm not suggesting the guy is guilty or anything so don't flame me, I just find the line amusing.

Good on him. If a few more home invaders got the same treatment the world would be a better place.
That retiring cop Atkinson lost me when he said that " Leaving your house unlocked is an open invitation to criminals" Or words to that effect.
Rubbish. Anyone who enters ones home uninvited with criminal intent whether breaking in or not deserves "the treatment"

My bother-in-law's a retired detective in the U.S. Over there, if you're one of those who keeps a gun (I think that's about most people!) and if you have an intruder, you shoot to kill. If you only wound them, they can come back and sue you for damages etc.
