I find it funny how we couldnt afford a new carrier,,
but end up with two helicopter platforms that are bigger!
does the ski deck mean we are buying more planes?

At one time I was the project engineer for an offshore drilling company.
I did a voyage from the USA to Singapore with a company jack-up drilling rig on a sister vessel to the Marlin. (Teal). Some trip, down through the Caribbean around the Cape of Good Hope, up to Sumatra via the Indian Ocean, and down through the Malacca Straits to Singapore.

Even though the rig was being carried as cargo, the US customs system insisted that it was a "vessel", and as such needed a captain. So I was appointed captain, had to sign the rig out of the US and the clearance document that was issued to me stated in part "with 4 men, no guns"!
